Unity – Allen Deering Jones, 66, passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 25, 2025, in Portland, Maine. He was born December 2, 1959, in Augusta, Maine, the son of Paul W. Jones and Margaret (Haskell) Jones. Allen attended Prescott Memorial School in Washington, Maine, before moving with his family to Unity in 1971. He was a graduate of Mount View High School, Class of 1978. Following high school, Allen worked on local farms and spent many years as a woodcutter. He later worked as a laborer for M.A. Matthews in Augusta and, for the past 37 years, as a truck driver and laborer with his brother at CJ Trucking and Construction. He also proudly worked alongside his son on the family farm for eight years. Allen loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and son-in-law, ice fishing with family, gardening, and bird watching and feeding the birds. Most of all, he treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren and was always eager to attend family gatherings. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Margaret Jones; his brother, Michael Jones; sister-in-law Diane Jones; mother-in-law Elaine Fortin; sister-in-law Sharon Look; and brother-in-law Albert Fortin. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul Jones of Knox and Dennis Jones and his wife Cindy of Unity; his sisters, Melanie Waterman and her husband Blake of Burnham, and Valerie Tweedie and her husband Barry of Thorndike; his brother and sisters-in-law, Lori Jones of Unity, Peter Fortin and his wife Cheryl of Connecticut, Pauline Liberty and her significant other Mel Bailey of Clinton; James Fortin of Winslow; Sandy Fortin of Benton; Julia Yip of Colorado; Paul Fortin of Clinton; Yvette Roy and her husband Alton of Clinton; Anita Fortin of California; and Donna Fortin and her significant other Paul Henry of Waterville, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Allen also leaves behind special friends Ron and Maria Valles and their children Jack and Meagan, who were truly part of the family. In keeping with Allen's wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. The family would like to thank their family and friends for all the love and support shown during this time.
