Obituary

Althea Lydia Haskell April 26, 1935 – October 2, 2025 Pittsfield - Althea Lydia Haskell passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, in Augusta, Maine, at the age of 90. She was born on April 26, 1935, in Waterville, the beloved daughter of Walter and Lydia (Ladd) Drummond. Althea lived a life rooted in love, faith, and unwavering devotion to family. She met and married the love of her life, Windsor Haskell, and together they built a beautiful life full of purpose and joy. After Windsor's retirement, the couple returned to Maine and settled in Waterville—their "little slice of heaven." There, they lovingly raised ten children, filling their home with warmth, laughter, and an open-door spirit that defined Althea's heart. Althea was the heartbeat of her family and a quiet force of kindness in her community. Her home was always a haven—not just for her own children, but for any child in need. Known as "Gram" to the neighborhood, she offered unconditional love, a listening ear, and always a place at her table. She had a passion for simple joys: knitting gifts for loved ones, curling up with romance and western novels, crafting with her hands, and serving her church family faithfully. Her gentle presence, loving guidance, and generous heart will be deeply missed. Althea was predeceased by her devoted husband Windsor, her parents Walter and Lydia, her beloved granddaughter Azure Haskell, and her siblings Betty, Roland, Walter Jr., Mercedes, and sister-in-law Anne. She is survived by her children and grandchildren; Hope French and her husband Matthew, and their child Logan, Donna Chesner and her husband Chad, and their children Madia and Isiah, Faith Haskell and her son Lawrence Haskell, Blondie Haskell, Jennie Sagar, April Huffstetler and her children Isaac and Caydence Tuttle, Barbara Hasty, Rob Haskell; her siblings, Steve Drummond and Laurel McCormick. Althea's life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family, and the quiet grace of a generous soul. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched.
