Amy Lyn Hamm, 49, of Waterville, Maine passed away peacefully in her sleep while holding her husband’s hand, surrounded by loved ones on Friday, July 24th, 2026 at Augusta Maine General due to complications from cardiac events in which she was unable to recover from.

Amy was born in Waterville, Maine to her mother Judy Chute (husband Phil Chute) and predeceased father Kenneth Hallee. She is survived by her husband Jason Hamm and brother Andy Hallee of Portland.

Amy graduated from Lawrence High School in 1996 where she made life-long friends that she continued to keep in touch with through the many years. Ready for adventure, she briefly lived in Wisconsin where she became a life-long Green Bay Packers fan. After moving back to Maine, it wasn’t until 1999 that she found the love of her life, Jason Hamm, and the two of them began dating, marrying on June 5th, 2004.

Amy‘s compassion for her neighbors and people in the community showed through her work, where she dedicated her career to helping those in need. Amy began her career working for Goodwill Hinckley in Fairfield, Maine, where she helped at-risk youth develop their emotional and behavioral stabilities for them to thrive in their lives.

Amy then moved on to Uplift Inc. in Waterville for many years, caring for some of our society’s most vulnerable citizens and did so with grace, compassion and kindness, assisting them in their daily routines. Hardly ever thinking of herself, Amy never backed down from accepting extra shifts when needed to help ensure the safety of all her clients whom she deeply cared for. This wasn’t just a job for Amy, it mattered to her very deeply.

Amy’s endless abilities to create amazing food was her favorite thing. Amy spent her spare time investing in perfecting new recipes. From lasagna to sushi to homemade Chinese food, there wasn’t anything she wasn’t willing to try to create, one only needed to ask. She loved the challenge of perfecting her cuisine. Her baking skills were where she really shined. She loved creating themed cakes for family and friend’s children’s birthday parties or cupcakes to bring to her clients at work. The smiles she received from them brought her much joy.

Traveling was another of her passions, one that she took advantage of whenever she could. Whether a three-day excursion to Old Orchard beach, a getaway at an Airbnb cabin in New Sharon or a weekend in Vermont at Adventure Suites, she loved getting out and experiencing new places. Amy also loved camping, so a three or four-day stay at Abnaki Campgrounds in Madison was an annual summer tradition that she enjoyed for over 20 years. In the last few years, she fell in love with the country of Jamaica and was planning her third vacation there with her husband for her 50th birthday before her passing.

Amy loved watching ‘Big Brother’ every season and spending numerous hours each summer obsessing over the Houseguests and their antics. Among all the traits that made Amy so special was her compassion for animals and she loved nothing better than spoiling her beloved cats over the years, her most recent ‘fur babies’ being Kylo and Charlie.

Amy’s sense of humor could be silly or sharp, depending on her mood, but it shined bright to the very end.

She is extremely missed already and will forever remain in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her. In lieu of flowers, if you'd like to celebrate Amy and her love for all animals, please consider a donation of funds or supplies to your local animal shelter in Amy’s honor.
