CHINA, ME--Avis E. (Brown) Pelton of China, ME, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Avis was born in Bowdoinham, ME on May 26, 1931, to Richard and Frances Brown. She was one of seven children. She met her husband, Wallace Pelton, and became a mother to his four children, Norman, Roger, Sylvia, and Edie. Living in China, ME with Wallace, they enjoyed many activities including playing cards, and going to the dances at Puddle Dock, 10-4 Diner, and many other places with friends. Avis liked to make yarn gifts for family and friends, and particularly loved to crochet afghans for her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was active bowler, participating in weekly bowling leagues, and was always on the go. She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace Pelton; her parents, Richard and Frances Brown; her siblings, Raymond, Carroll, Howard, and Johnny; and her son, Roger Pelton. She is survived by her siblings, Ardien (Dicky) Brown, and Corena Hatfield and their families; her children, Sylvia and Eugene Bishop, Norman and Patsy Pelton, and Edie Caswell; her nieces and nephews; grandchildren; and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Lawry Brothers-Gray Chapel, 207 Windsor Neck Road, Windsor, ME. Visiting will be on Sunday, December 6 at 8:30 a.m. to be followed immediately by her funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the spring.
