Burnham - Betty Florence Moody, 68, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. Born in Joliet, raised in Morris, Illinois, she was the beloved daughter of LaVerne and Mary (Stanford) Lundborg.
After graduating from high school, Betty entered the United States Army, where she proudly served her country and where she met the love of her life, the man who would become her husband, she married Dennis Moody September 9th, 1977. Together they built a beautiful family, raising their three children first in Illinois before making Maine their home in 1989. After a few moves Betty and her family settled in Sidney in 1991 until the passing of her husband in 2021 then moved to Burnham with her son, Walter.
Betty's heart was always fullest when surrounded by the people she loved. She welcomed everyone into her home with warmth and kindness, caring for family, friends, and anyone who needed a place at her table. A gifted cook, she was known for preparing meals large enough to feed a small army—ensuring that no one ever left hungry. Her holiday cookies and other family recipes, lovingly made from scratch each year, became a cherished tradition that brought joy to all who were lucky enough to enjoy them.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and one siblings. She is survived by her three children, Peter Moody, Susan Moody, and Walter Moody; six siblings, Marianne Catton, Patricia Lundborg, Millie Hernandez, Susan Ervin, Timothy Lundborg, and Thomas Lundborg; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
Betty will be remembered for her generosity, her strength, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her and that her spirit lives on in the many lives she touched.
