Obituary

Winslow - Cecile Theresa Byrne, 87, of Winslow passed away at Glenridge Nursing Home on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 with her loving family by her side. She was born December 7, 1927 in Winslow Maine, a daughter of Harry and Leda (Lagasse) Breton. She graduated from Winslow High School in 1945 where she was active in many programs, especially any which required dancing, she loved dancing. She married Lawrence "Larry" Byrne at St. Francis Catholic Church on June 10, 1950.

Cecile was employed for several years at Hollingsworth and Whitney, Scott Paper Co. in the main office as well as at Winslow Jr. High School. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 8835 where she has been a consistent member since 1952. Cecile enjoyed many winters in Florida, in several different areas, but especially St. Petersburg where her sister lived.

Cecile is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lawrence Byrne of Winslow, three sons John Byrne of Oregon, Michael Byrne and wife Debra of Winslow; James Byrne and wife Laurie of Winslow; a daughter, Lisa Mitchell and husband Jeff. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Ryan Byrne, Sean Byrne, Erik Byrne, Cierra Byrne, Amanda Byrne, Taylor Byrne and his wife Sarah, Jessica Mitchell, Kevin Byrne, Taylor Mitchell and two great Grandchildren, Ajax D. Byrne and Sawyer J. Byrne as well as several nieces and nephews.

Cecile was predeceased by her brother Richard Breton and his wife Evelyn , a sister Harriet Papolas and her husband Harry.

Cecile's family would like to extend a special thank you to Sue Plisga and all of the staff of the Woodland's Alzheimer's Unit in Waterville for all the care and support that they provided to Cecile. In her final days, Cecile's family would like to express their deep gratitude for the compassionate care provided to her by the Glenridge nursing home staff.

Visitation will be held on Friday. February 6 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Veilleux Funeral Home 8 Elm Street Waterville

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 7 at 11 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Monument St., Winslow.
