WINSLOW -- Charles Albert Atwater Jr., 63, of Robert Street, Winslow, passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at his residence. Charles was born in Gardiner on July 28, 1947, a son of the late Charles and Barbara (Moody) Atwater. He was educated in local Gardiner schools and was very proud of graduating from the Augusta Business School. Charles worked for the state of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, but more recently he found passion in working for Erskine Academy as a bus driver, driving students to school and all of the various events that the students were involved in.

Charles enjoyed golfing, fishing, kayaking and bicycling. Charles was most passionate about his daughters, his friends and his beloved grandchildren.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Staci Gustin and her husband, Jay, of Winthrop, and Amber Atwater McAllister and her husband, Mike McAllister, of South China; and two brothers, Michael Atwater and his wife, Hope, of Gardiner and Robert Atwater of Augusta. He also leaves two grandchildren, David and Catherine Gustin, and stepgrandchildren Taylor and Alex Gustin.

A memorial service for Charles Atwater will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, at Erskine Academy, 309 Windsor Road, South China. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Erskine Academy, Development and Alumni Relations Office, 309 Windsor Road, China, ME 04358.
