Obituary

Clinton—

Christopher Aaron Butler (Chris), 40, of Clinton, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2026.

Our hope is that when Chris left this earth, he found the best hunting grounds and the finest lakes to spend eternity, doing what he loved most. We find comfort in believing he is in a peaceful place and has found true happiness with his best friend and beloved dog, Scrappy, by his side. Our world will never be the same without him.

Chris attended Lawrence High School and spent the last ten years working at Formtek in Clinton. He was a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM Local 2336).

Chris loved fishing and hunting with his special friends, Ron and Brad Reed, and his favorite hunting partner, Lukkas. He had a large circle of friends who were family to him. He had a passion for anything with a motor, including ATVs, side-by-sides, boating, and snowmobiles. He also enjoyed ice fishing, golfing, and found his greatest peace fishing quietly from his kayak.

He is survived by his beloved dog, Asher; his mother, Gerry Butler of Waterville; his stepfather, Barry Witham of Waterville; his father, Mark Butler of Florida; his sister, Megan Whitman and her husband, Richard, of Clinton; his nephew, Lukkas Whitman, of Clinton; his niece, Dacoda Whitman, of Brewer; his stepsisters, Katherine and Abigail Witham of Waterville; his nieces, Ava, Lorelei, and Elaina; his nephew, Malachai; his special Aunt Cammie and Uncle Russell of Burnham; his special Aunt Nancy and Uncle John Davis of Albion; his aunt and uncle, Terry and Dennis Butler of Clinton; his aunt and uncle, Kathy Butler and Jeff Littlefield of Winslow : Nichole Butler of Florida; as well as several cousins and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Chris’s life on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Veilleux-Redington-Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, where Pastor Scott Jones will officiate. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Waterville Elks Lodge Pavilion.
