JEFFERSON, MAINE—Clara Isabel Brown, 85, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016. She was born in Somerville, Maine on April 17, 1931, the daughter of Robert and Flossie Jones. Clara attended Somerville schools. Growing up, she had a pair of oxen and yarded wood with them. Clara married Wendell E. Brown on April 27, 1949, and the couple made their home in Jefferson. She worked at GTE Sylvania for 35 years. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her son, Lloyd; her brothers, Carroll and Clarence Jones; and her sisters, Celia Hayes, and Christine Barnett. Clara is survived by her guardian, Sarah Jones of Jefferson, Maine; her brother-in-law, Nelson Brown and his wife, Louise of Jefferson, Maine; her sister-in-law, Hilda Benner; her daughter, Linda Brown of Augusta, Maine; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins; and a special friend, Florence Hutchins. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 11 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home-Gray Chapel, 207 Windsor Neck Rd., Windsor, Maine, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 12. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Jefferson, Maine.
