Dennis Manwell, 79, passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 6, 2025, at Togus. He was born on August 6, 1945, in Greyling, MI, the son of Clinton and Marion (Benedict) Manwell. Dennis graduated from Mayville High School and later joined the Army. After, he met the love of his life, Sharon. Together, they raised a family and shared 57 years of marriage.
Dennis had a varied career, working in maintenance, as a bus driver, and as a Food Manager at the Illinois State Prison before his retirement. He was known for his impressive Lionel train collection and his quick wit and humor, always ready with the perfect dad joke to bring a smile to those around him.
He was predeceased by his parents, his great-grandson David John Smith, and three brothers: Richard, Kenneth, and Thomas Manwell.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; their children, Nancy and Joe Fotter, Melody and Tim Bigger, Sherry and Chris Hoffman, Dennis John Manwell II, Mark and Renee Manwell; 12 grandchildren who affectionally called him "grump-pa"; 10 great grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A service will be held at a later date.
