Unity: Dennis Douglas Smart, 83, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. Dennis was born in Corinna, Maine on December 27,1940 to Percy Leroy and Gladys Wilson Smart. He graduated from Unity-Freedom High School in 1960. He married Claire E. Clifford on August 24,1968. They had a daughter Denise on October 15, 1971. Over the years, Dennis worked for Macintosh Feeds, Corbett Brothers, Blue Seal Feeds, Robert and Erma Elwell, Dick Hodges and he retired with Maine X-ray. Dennis loved old trucks and John Deere tractors. He collected many John Deere items over the years and always wore his John Deere hat. Dennis is survived by his wife Claire. They had celebrated their 56th anniversary in August. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends over the years. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Mary Ellen Rines and his beloved daughter Denise in 1990, at the age of 18. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 17,2024 at 1:00 pm at the #2 Pond Cemetery in Unity, Maine. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Unity Ambulance, P.O.
