Knox: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Diane M. Jones, at the age of 65, on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Maine Medical Center with family by her side.
Diane was born on August 18, 1960, in Waterville, Maine, daughter of Thomas and Viola Welch. She was one of four children. She is predeceased by brothers Richard and Robert Welch. She is survived by her sister and best friend Donna Roberts and husband Thomas, sister in-law Kathy Welch. Diane is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Paul B. Jones. They were married on October 16, 1976. They resided in Knox, Maine and raised a beautiful family.
Diane loved to cook. One of her favorite things was a house full of family and friends. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren with their hobbies and was always quick to support local teams and events. She was a very strong supporter in the community. She loved life at camp on East Grand Lake, camping and traveling.
After high school she was a part of The Paint Hers, making many memories painting houses for several years with lifelong friends. She cooked at Mount View for 23 years. She grew a special bond and remained close with dear friend Viola Elkins. As the years went on, they made many memories with Gary and Viola.
Her dream was to own her own restaurant. She bought Ridgetop in 2009 and had many successful years. She then also opened Mammie's Country Kitchen in Unity and developed quite a following of regular customers and new ones from near and far. She and her team were featured on America's Best Restaurants.
She is predeceased by her brother in-law Michael D. Jones.
She is survived by her children Craig Jones (Shellie), Chris Jones (Michelle), grandchildren Mackenzie Jones (Kevin), Marissa Jones (Neal), Collin Jones (Emily), Michael Jones, Andrew Farris and Maliah Jones, great grandsons Bruce, Max and another on the way. Brothers' in-law Allen Jones (Alice), Dennis Jones (Cindy), sister's in-law Lori Jones, Melanie Waterman (Blake) and Valarie Tweedie (Barry). Several nieces and nephews and many cherished friendships, old and new.
A celebration of life will be planned for warmer weather, date to be announced closer to summer. In memory of Diane, please support your local community.
