November 19, 2012 Oakland: Ernestine B. Porter 86, died Sunday November 18, 2012 at the Maplecrest Rehabilitation and Living Center in Madison. She was born in Skowhegan on March 24, 1926 the daughter of Chester and Lovina (Colway) Perkins. Ernestine attended Skowhegan Schools before marrying John Porter and moving to Rockland Massachusetts. She was employed for many years by the United Shoe Machine Corp in Brockton, Massachusetts, returning to Oakland, Maine in 1986. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John, a son Ernest, 3 sisters, Eron Perkins, Lorene Mullen, and Muriel Mullen, 5 brothers Mainard, Chester, James, Millard, and Arthur Perkins. Surviving are 2 sisters, Catherine Perkins, and Nancy Lemieux of Skowhegan, several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Friday November 23 at Wheeler Funeral Home 26 Church Street Oakland where friends may call from noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterville.
