Ellsworth: Evelyn King (Jacques) Hayward 8/16/1925 - 12/22/2022
Parents Lena (Proveau) King and Joseph King. She was raised during the depression and WWII. She always had an American flag proudly and publicly displayed. She often recalled an idyllic childhood. She was predeceased by 8 very durable siblings; 6 sisters, Marie, Franny, Flo, Irene, Doris, Eva and two brothers Don and Henry. She outlived two husbands, Ronald Jacques (married 34 years) and Bertrand Hayward. (14 years). She is survived by her son Dan and daughter in law Rhonda.
Her crowning achievement was consolidating the 5 remaining King siblings in her big house in Brewer. People often thought that the house was an illegal old folks home but it was actually a gathering of family scattered for 50 plus years since childhood. She brought them together again.
She worked many years at Keyes Fibre company in Waterville as a secretary, organizer and receptionist. She often said that she should have been a nurse as she liked taking care of people. She, in fact, nursed parents, siblings, husbands and son through difficult times and sickness. It was after her last sister Flo passed that she lost interest in life with no one left to take care of. She lingered for a couple of years then passed peacefully. I like to think that her oldest sister Flo came to guide her through death and into whatever is next. Mama, thanks for taking such good care of us all. Your Son, Dan
