Fairfield, ME– Frances Estelle Pooler, 98, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of memories cherished by her family and friends. She was born on January 6, 1928, in Unity, Maine, to the late James and Harriet (Shibles) Bacon.
Frances was well known in her community for her many years of dedicated service as the manager of the bakery at the local Hannaford supermarket (then Cottles), where she worked for what seemed like forever. Her warm smile and kind nature made her a familiar and beloved face to coworkers and customers alike. After retiring, Frances embraced her role as a homemaker, a role she took great pride in.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Frances loved cooking and sharing meals with those she cared about, and she especially cherished spending time at camp on Unity Pond, where she could relax and enjoy the beauty of Maine.
Frances is survived by her son, William Pooler Jr., as well as several loving nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly. She was predeceased by her parents, and her husband, William Pooler Sr.
Frances will be remembered for her kindness, her strong work ethic, and the love she shared with her family and community. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Burial will take place in the Spring at Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield, ME. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation in Frances’ name. www.kidney.org.
