Obituary Notice From Wheeler Funeral Home 26 Church St. Oakland, Me. 04963 207-465-3011 July 9, 2012 Oakland: Francis E. Monahan 81, died Sunday July 8, 2012 at Oak Grove Living Center in Waterville. He was born in Waterville on May 25, 1931 the son of Francis and Hazel (Rice) Monahan. Francis graduated from Williams High School in Oakland, Class of 1950. He attended the University of Maine at Orono and graduated from Thomas College in Waterville. He was employed as an accountant for Keyes Fibre Company (Chinet/Huhtamaki). Francis served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War. Francis was a member of Corpus Christie Parish, a member of the Elks of Waterville and a member of the Decker-Simmons Post American Legion of Oakland. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, camping and going to the casinos. Surviving are his wife Glenette (Roy) Monahan of Oakland, a sister Jean Hanna of Oakland, a sister in law Inez Monahan of Indiana, several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Monday July 16 at Notre Dame Church Silver Street Waterville. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the church immediately following the service. Burial will be 2:00 PM at the New Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Mount Vernon Road Augusta. Arrangements are by Wheeler Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Oakland.
