Obituary

Gaétan J. Carrier, 74, of Fairfield, ME, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. A cherished father, husband, and friend, Gaétan will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Gaétan grew up in Saint-Honoré-de-Shenley, Quebec, on a farm where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for the great outdoors. A man of few words, he dedicated many years to the construction industry in Connecticut, working alongside his cousins. It was in Connecticut that he met the love of his life, Louise. Together, they created a beautiful life and were happily married for 53 years. Throughout their life together, they lived in various places, including Connecticut, Quebec, Alberta, and Maine. Later in life, Gaétan pursued wood harvesting in Maine and founded Timber Express with his son. Working alongside his children were some of his most treasured days. Gaétan and Louise also shared a passion for travel, spending many vacations exploring the country in an RV. He is survived by his beloved wife, Louise, and their five children: David (Tammy) of Madison, ME; Natalie (Jason) of Buxton, ME; Nellie (Ian) of Pittston, ME; Lynda of Oakland, ME; and Jean-François (Kasey) of Madison, ME. He also leaves behind eleven cherished grandchildren: Kyle, Kristian (Kayla), Ashley (Bryar), Kaleb, Kegan, Austin, Audrey, Kiana, Adrianna, Sophia, and Sadie. Gaétan is also survived by his brothers André (Paule, deceased) and Martin, his sister Julie, mother-in-law Adrienne Landry, and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, and nieces. Welcoming him at Heaven's door were his father, Georges, and his mother, Yvonne. Services will be held at Notre Dame du Perpetual Secours Catholic Church, 116 Silver Street, Waterville, Maine, on June 21, 2024, at 10 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at the Fairfield Community Center, 61 Water Street, Fairfield, Maine.
