Obituary

SIDNEY, MAINE--Gerald “Jerry” A Ladeau, 78, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at his home in Sidney, Maine, after a battle with Cancer for the last several months. He was a resident of Sidney, ME for over 14 years. Gerald was born in Stoneham, Mass., on April 13, 1936, the son of Gerald Senior and Bertha (Bamber) Ladeau. He graduated from Medford High School in 1954, with a trade in Machine and went to Tufts College for drafting. He was employed as a cook at New England Hospital in Stoneham, MA. Jerry also worked at (HH) Hermon Hosmer Scott in Maynard Mass., Archie Motorcycle in Hudson Mass., and at Emerson Hospital in Concord Mass., in the Engineering Department where he finally retired in 2001, and moved to Maine. He received many trophies in Enduro Racing. He was a member of AMA, Enduro, and Rams. He was very passionate about his motorcycle. He loved the outdoors; camping, hiking, fishing, diving and boating. He was a hardworking man that did all his gardening, wood chopping, and anything to do with taking care of his home. He had many friends and family members in the Mass. area. Jerry met his companion, Nellie Alexander in 1999, and they have been happily living in Sidney, Maine since 2001. Jerry was predeceased by his parents; and his daughter, Cheryl Ladeau. He is survived by his companion, Nellie Alexander; his daughter, Wanda and her husband, Jim Delong of NC; his son, Andy Ladeau and his wife, Crystal of NC; his son, Robert Ladeau of Waterville, ME; his grandchildren; his great grandchild; Nellie’s children, Jerry’s stepchildren, Steve, Audrey, Dana, Billy, Gil, Dotty, Patricia, Tara, and Bob and their spouses; his step grandchildren; step great grandchildren; and last but not least, Mr. Hugs, Jerry’s cat that he rescued from the Humane Society. A special thanks to Hospice workers and private providers.
