BENTON - - Glenn Wilson Bickford, a cherished father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home in Benton, Maine, on December 9, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on June 3, 1952, in Waterville, Maine, Glenn was the son of the late Glenwood and Catherine (Provencher) Bickford. He spent his formative years in Benton, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors.
Glenn attended Lawrence High School in Fairfield and proudly served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973. After his service, he pursued higher education at the University of Maine in Farmington, earning a Bachelor's degree in Education in 1979. However, his true passion lay in carpentry, where he excelled as a self-employed craftsman alongside his brother Harold. Later, he worked at Huhtamaki in Fairfield until his retirement.
An avid outdoorsman, Glenn found immense joy in hunting and fishing, often sharing stories and jokes that filled the room with laughter. His greatest pride was his family, especially his daughters and granddaughters, who were the light of his life.
Glenn is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Courtney Meuth and her husband Cody, Ashley Jackson and her husband Matthew, and Rachel Bickford. He leaves behind six cherished granddaughters: Olivia, Savannah, Everly, Elodie, Finley, and Maribel. Glenn is also survived by his brother Ronnie Bickford, sister Louise (Bickford) Blackburn, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gerald, Scott, Leslie, Harold, and Cynthia (Bickford) Cyr.
A graveside service will be held in the spring, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Glenn's life and legacy.
Arrangements are in the care of Veilleux-Redington-Lawry Brothers, 8 Elm Street, Waterville, where memories of Glenn may be shared, and an online register book can be signed by visiting www.vrlfuneralhome.com.
