GREGORY ROSS HALE
1965 – 2024
Gregory "Greg" Hale, age 58, of Winslow, Maine passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 19th, 2024, surrounded by family & friends who cared for him deeply. Greg was born in Norway, Maine on October 20, 1965, to Worden Hale, originally of Bellows Falls, Vermont, and Frances (Keene) Hale, originally of Buckfield, Maine.
Greg was raised on his parent's dairy farms in Norway, Maine and Albion, Maine, graduating from Lawrence High School in 1984 and then serving in the U.S. Army from 1985 to 1987. Having grown up on farms, Greg had a deep respect for the natural world and possessed an incredible gift and interest for horticulture. Greg dedicated a portion of his home to the operation of his vegetable and flower business, Hedgehog Hollow, including a self-made greenhouse and outside gardens, in which he cultivated and sold a wide variety of plants. Greg took great pride in creating environments in which things could grow and experimenting with technologies to enhance production, quality, and timing of growing his plants.
Greg was predeceased by his wife, Marsha Bickford-Hale, his parents; and his brother, John Curtis "Curt" Hale.
Greg is survived by his girlfriend Linda Crocker of Medway, Maine; his siblings Clyde Hale and wife Josey of Chandler, Arizona, Eileen (Hale) Dulac and husband Tony of Bowdoinham, Maine, and George Hale and wife Adrienne of Needham, Massachusetts; his children, Joshua Bickford of Rome, Maine, Diana Bickford and her husband Warren Pinkham of Norridgewock, Maine, Erin Bickford and her husband Jeffery Abrahamson of Land O Lakes, Florida, and Elizabeth (Bickford) Robinson and her husband Ian Robinson of Terrell, Texas; his grandchildren, Marisa and Adam Bickford of Winslow, Maine, Mara Elizabeth Bickford of Rome, Maine, Tre Kurzhal of Land O Lakes, Florida, Paige and Emily Pinkham of Norridgewock, Maine, and Declan and Orla Robinson of Terrell, Texas; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Greg did not wish to have any public funeral services, opting instead for a private ceremony to be held at a later time.
