Obituary

Oakland: Helen Louise Bickford, 87, passed away Thursday May 22, 2014 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, with family at her side. She was born in Albion on May 5, 1927 the daughter of Parker and Gladys (Barrett) Fuller. Helen grew up in Albion and graduated from Bessey High School. She was employed by Scott Paper/Kimberly Clark in Winslow for 34 years, retiring in 1988. Helen was a life time member of the Waterville VFW, a member of the Decker-Simmons Post American Legion in Oakland, a member of the Augusta Elks Lodge, and a long time member of the Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church in Waterville. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Merle B. Bickford Jr., brothers; James, Guy and Percy Fuller, half sisters, Marguerite Pushaw and Mabelle Trull. Helen is survived by a son, Harvey Bickford and wife Patricia of Oakland, a sister Mary Paradis of Winslow, a brother Roy Fuller and wife Sharon of Albion, sister-in-laws Viola Fuller of Albion and Earlene Bowen of Oakland, brother-in-law Franklin Bickford of Mt. Holly, Vermont. She will be sadly missed by granddaughters, Hilary Ellingwood and husband David of Oakland, and Elizabeth Bickford of Waterville, great grandchildren Kaitlyn, Alexis, Bryant, and Sophia. Helen is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday May 29 at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville with Reverend Gary York.
