Obituary

Waterville – Sister Herminia Cayosa was born in Pamplona, Cagayan, Philippines on Nov. 24, 1928 the youngest of 6 children, and only daughter of Domingo and Cecilia Cayosa. She passed away at Mount Joseph in Waterville on June 7, 2026 the Feast of Corpus Christi at the age of 97. From her youth she had a great desire for religious life, but delayed her entry to care for her mother. She entered the convent of the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament in Manila, Philippines on February 18, 1966. She professed her first vows on Sept.3, 1968. She transferred to our convents in the USA in 1983 to help maintain the eucharistic centers of prayer and counselling for community friends. She served in Pueblo, Colorado, Waterville Maine and Moncton N.B. Canada. She eventually became an American Citizen in 1997. She was a gifted artist and seamstress and maintained an abundant correspondence. After several falls she required nursing care first at Glenridge in Augusta, Arbor Terrace in Gardiner and finally at Mount Joseph Waterville. She is mourned by her religious community and friends, her sister-in-law, Faye Cayosa from Rockville Maryland, her nieces, Dr. Lourdes Hunter and Rosalia Howe also from Rockville, Maryland, Sofia Harris from Annadale, VA, as well as her nephew Domingo Egon Cayosa Esq. and family members in the Philippines. Her funeral will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel on June 18th, 2026, a wake will be held at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial presided by Bishop James Ruggieri at 10am and concluded by burial in the Convent Garden and reception.
