OAKLAND - Jeannette B. Colford, 95, born February 28, 1931, in Oakland, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, at Glenridge Nursing Home in Augusta. She was the daughter of Donat and Florina (Bourassa) Rossingnol.

She graduated from Williams High School in Oakland, Class of 1950.

Jeannette was predeceased by her parents; her former husband, Norman; her sister, Lillian Martin; and her brothers, Gerald, Maurice, and Roland Rossingnol. She is survived by her children, Jane Colford of Jupiter, FL, and Duane Colford of Skowhegan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She spent her first 45 years growing up on the Rossingnol & Sons Dairy Farm in Oakland, Maine. It was an adventurous life filled with memories of singing with her siblings while they played various instruments on summer evenings by the farmhouse. She was a singer and pianist by ear. In high school, she was a majorette, and she also enjoyed roller skating and ice skating.

Jeannette raised her family on the farm as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She assisted in the farm office and waited on customers purchasing fresh milk. On early summer evenings, she loved picking raspberries and blackberries, out-picking everyone else. In the 1960s and 1970s, snowmobiling was one of her favorite activities with family and friends. In later years, she enjoyed square dancing with her partner, James Carrol, at local Maine clubs.

In her final days, she was whispering, "I can see the farm," her happy place.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 20, at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church, 116 Silver Street, Waterville. Burial will immediately follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery on Grove Street, in Waterville, Me.

The family would like to thank Glenridge Long -Term Care in Augusta for providing exceptional, compassionate care to our mother for the 3 years she was there.
