Judith Ann Nanney was born on October 5, 1938, and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 4, 2024, at the age of 85.
Judy was born in Iowa, moved to California as a teenager, then to Maine as an adult. She is predeceased by her adoring husband of 65 years Larry Nanney of Maine and sister Sharon Sheppard of Nevada.
She leaves behind a sister, Rebecca Schmidt, two daughters Cindi and husband David Neverland and Michelle Gretz. Grandchildren Sharon Rebecca Douglass, Jeremy and Sarah Douglass, Kevin and Michelle Douglass and Ricia and Jacob Golder. Great grandchildren Kalianna, Aren and Daylon Carpenter, Katelyn and Kristen Douglass, Kealy and Leah Douglass, Oliyshia and Jake Hilton and great-great grandchildren Navaiya and Kaemiiya. Judy also leaves behind her close friends Ken and Lois Douglass
Judy held a master's degree in social work from UMaine and was a dedicated play therapist for years both in Maine and Maryland. She enjoyed her crafts, stained glass especially, and was an avid reader, scholar and believer. She adored spending time with all her grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. Judy had a profound relationship with God and her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now with her heavenly Father and the love of her life Larry.
Judy and Larry will both be missed greatly by all that ever had the opportunity to know them.
There will be a private ceremony at a future date. In lieu of flowers and condolences please pay it forward in their honor to someone in need, as they would have done.
