Lasalette Geraldine (Butler) Fish Augusta-On Thursday, April 18th, Lasalette Geraldine Fish departed the corporeal bonds of this world to be with the Lord – she was 89 years of age. Mrs. Fish was born to Lewis N. and Mamie M. (Veilleux) Butler in Waterville on October 24th, 1923, and was proud to have been born - and lived most of her life - in the Columbia Road home that her father built. During her youth, “Love” (as she was affectionately known) was active in many arenas, and especially enjoyed long walks, exercising and oil painting. For several years, she worked in local convenience stores and was the treasurer for the local TOPS organization.

On November 1, 1941, she married Eldon Enoch Fish of Brookton, ME. Love would fondly recall her trips to Coney Island, NY, during Eldon’s World War II service in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge, they returned to the Waterville area and raised six wonderful children. Love was a talented cook and seamstress and enjoyed sharing her skills with family and friends for many years, especially her famous Raspberry Pie. She and Eldon also made numerous trips visiting relatives all over the state, and enjoyed many summers at the family camp on Belgrade stream. Mrs. Fish was recently surprised by her family members with a 89th birthday party at the Maine Veteran’s home, where she was a resident, and was proud to share her birthday with twin grandsons, Lorenzo & Alonzo, who were a surprise 80th birthday present for her!

Mrs. Fish was predeceased by brothers Pearly and Calvin, her daughter, Judith Fish, and her husband, Eldon. She is survived by her loving children: Alan Fish and wife, Joyce, of Sidney, and their six children; David Fish and wife, Evelyn, of Sidney, and their son; Linda Roy and her three children, and husband, Andrew, of China; Donna Palmer and her two children, and husband, Robert, of China; and Betty Michaud and husband, Kevin A., of Salisbury, New Hampshire, and their four children. Mrs. Fish also leaves behind several great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, as well as brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to recognize the compassionate care that was shown to her by caretaker Penny Alexander, as well as Maine Veteran’s Home advocate Donna Lomar and a special thank you to Maine Veteran’s Home B Company and nurses Jen, Donna, Shawn & his wife.

A remembrance of her life will take place at Veilleux Funeral Home in Waterville, on Monday, April 22, from 9-10 a.m. where friends and relatives are invited to call and share their favorite memories of Lasalette, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Pleasant Street, Waterville. Committal will immediately follow at St. Francis Cemetery on Grove Street in Waterville.
