Obituary

Waterville, ME– Laura Elaine Theriault, 97, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026. She was born on April 15, 1928, in Mars Hill, Maine, to William and Dorothy Grendell. Laura spent her early years in Presque Isle before moving to the Waterville area in her late teens. She made her home in Fairfield, where she raised her family and was a longtime attendee of the Fairfield Baptist Church. A dedicated and hardworking woman, Laura was employed by Scott Paper Company for over 20 years, retiring after a long and steady career. Much of Laura's life was centered around her family and home. She took great pride in raising her children while maintaining a household filled with care and routine. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed embroidery and sewing, often creating pillowcases, tablecloths, and clothing by hand. She also found joy in cooking, with a focus on simple, wholesome meals, plenty of vegetables and very little salt, which she believed contributed to her long life. Laura had a love for music and dancing in her younger years and could often be found at local dance halls. She carried that appreciation for music with her throughout her life. She is survived by her husband, Michael; her daughter, Suzanne Jenkins; her son, Mark Jenkins; her sister, Andrea Reynolds; her grandson, Bill, his wife Becky, and their daughter Abbie; her nieces, Kathy and Claudia; her nephews, Chris and Bruce; her sister-in-law, Ruth Grendell; and her stepchildren, Shelly and Mark. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Dorothy Grendell; her brother-in-law, Aulden Reynolds; and her beloved furry friend, Abbie. Laura will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her devotion to her family, and the quiet, steady way she lived her life.
