Obituary

FAIRFIELD, ME – Leo James "Jim" Sirois, 73, passed away on May 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. James was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada on March 21, 1953. James grew up living a short distance from the Sirois Dairy Farm operated by Charles Sirois and sons in Frenchville, Maine. James tremendously enjoyed exploring the dairy farm, especially the barn with his older brother, Paul. James always had a hilarious story to tell about his adventures, such as jumping on bales of hay, petting the cows, riding Copper the horse, and even helping his dad and uncles picking bales of hay during hay season. Upon graduation from high school, James earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Maine at Orono. He spent the next years working at Northern Paper Mill in Millinocket, Maine, and the Sappi Paper Mill in Fairfield, Maine. James possessed a strong work ethic and was a valued member of the management team. He respected his fellow workers, and they respected him in return. James loved traveling with his many buddies to various parts of the United States. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing, sports, movies, roller coasters, and car races. He definitely was good at playing antics on others. He had a lighthearted and teasing attitude, never losing his sense of humor during his final days. James will be remembered for the love he had for his family, especially his great-nieces and great-nephews. His face would light up whenever he spoke to or about them. He never missed a family gathering or birthday celebration and would say, "I'll be there", regardless of the day or weather. He always arrived with a bag full of gum and stuffed animals - small gestures that showed the enormous love he had for them. His warmth and generosity will be cherished always. James was predeceased by his parents, Bertrand and Claire (Levesque) Sirois. He is survived by his siblings, Jean Paul Sirois and his wife, Catherine, of Norton, Massachusetts; Joan Sirois-Albert and her husband, Roger, of Windham, Maine; Charlene Sirois of Frenchville, Maine; and Carl Sirois and his wife, Michelle, of Frenchville, Maine. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews - Sean, Claire, Michael, Kristin, Nicole, Melissa, and Owen - and eight great-nieces and great-nephews: Alexis, Corey, Abigail, Ava, Caroline, Natalie, Cameron and Weston. James' family will forever miss him and his sense of humor. May he rest in peace. Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Veilleux Redington, Lawry Brothers Funeral Home.
