Leonel F. "Frank" Veilleux, 79, of Winslow, Maine passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2022 following a brave battle with cancer.
Lee was born in Waterville, Maine to Josephine and John Veilleux. He grew up in Waterville, and was a Private in the Army. Lee married his high school sweetheart Bernley Fitch and they were married for 52 years.
Lee was the proprietor of Veilleux's Market on Sherwin Street in the 70's. The family lived in North Texas from 1979 until 1987, when Lee and Bernley moved back to Waterville to be closer to extended family. Lee held the post of Commander at the American Legion in the early 2000's. Lee and Bernley retired to Alamo, Texas, in 2006 and were both active within the community. Lee decided to return to central Maine in 2017 after Bernley's sudden passing.
Lee is preceded in death by his wife, Bernley Veilleux who passed away unexpectedly in 2015.
Lee is survived by his children, Kathy Veilleux-Chassie and Barry Chassie, of Frisco, TX and Peter Veilleux, of Ponte Vedra, FL; his 4 siblings: Jeanette (Veilleux) Bourgoin of Waterville, Roland Veilleux of Skowhegan, Lucien and Glennis Veilleux of Waterville, and Vernette (Veilleux) and Roland Dechaine of Pittsfield. In addition to his children and siblings, Lee leaves behind his 4 grandchildren: Bria, Jenna, Evan, and Marisa Chassie of Frisco, Texas and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 9AM on Monday, September 12 at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 61 Grove Street in Waterville, ME. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Veilleux and Redington Funeral Home, www.VeilleuxFuneralHome.com.
