Obituary

Benton- Loretta M. King,78, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on August 23, 2020. Loretta M. King was born in Houston, TX April 18, 1942 to Maurice Leeland and Elva Maxine Miller. Loretta graduated in 1960 from Pasedena High School in Houston then attended Sam Houston State College. Loretta was predeceased by her husband Joel King, of 51 years, in 2012. They married August 3, 1961 and celebrated their 51-year union that same year. She worked for years at A&M University in College Station, TX for the head of the Chemistry department before Joel and Loretta bought a business in Bryan/College Station in 1971, which is still active today. She excelled in business and in 1976 joined the Texas Federation of Business & Professional Women. Eventually she became State President of the organization in 1990. She retired in 2000 to Rockport, TX where she shared many memories with her husband. Traveling, RVing, hunting and an active Christian life with First Baptist Church where they were deeply involved. They spent many summers in Michigan where she was an active member at Stalwart Presbyterian Church, Stalwart, MI. She is survived by her daughters, Holly L. and Judith M. King, a dearly loved sister Sherry M. Cade of Cypress, TX, a brother and sister in law Steven M. and Teresa Miller, granddaughter Amy Kubelka and 3 great grandchildren Tyler W. Singleton, Calynn M. Lee and May S. Jones. In lieu of flowers please donate to Faith Evangelical Church, KMD 250 Kennedy Memorial Drive Waterville, to help needy families during Covid19
