Oakland: Louis R. Caret 72, died Sunday March 25, 2012 at Maine General Medical Center in Waterville following a brief illness. He was born in Augusta on September 22, 1939 the son of Louis and Violette (Tuttle) Caret. From a young age, Louis was raised by his father and step mother Pearl (Levesque) Caret. He graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, and was a member of St. Augustine Church in Augusta. Louis was employed for over 20 years by Diamond International Corp. In Oakland and for 17 years by Bath Iron Works in Bath. He was a Member of the Messalonskee Masonic Lodge in Oakland, A member of the Knights Templer, and the Anna Temple in Bangor. He was also a member of the Oakland Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Louis was a member of the Oakland Fire Department, joining in 1964 and training with Fire Chief Red Miner and Hardy Taylor. Louis was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and fly tying. He also enjoyed gardening and his dog and best friend Susie. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, May (Davis) Caret, his daughter Roseanna Caret both in Oakland. 2 grandchildren; Jasmine Bradstreet and husband Adam of Albion, and Paul L. Caret of Oakland, 2 great grandchildren Lilli May Bradstreet of Albion and Kadin Paul Caret of Oakland. A sister Joy Lapierre and husband Ken of Vassalboro, nephew Joshua Lapierre and wife of Bangor, special friends Charlie Gow of Augusta, and Ronnie Trask and wife Georgie of Oakland. He will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters in law and his many good friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston, the staff at Maine General Medical Center, and the staff at HealthReach . Friends are invited to visit 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Wednesday March 28 at Wheeler Funeral Home 26 Church Street Oakland where a Masonic Memorial service will be 7:30 on Wednesday. A funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Thursday March 29 at the Funeral Home. Immediately following the service, there will be a gathering of friends and family at the Oakland Masonic Hall, Oak Street Oakland.
