She was born in Waterville, Maine, to the late Harry and Margaret Brawn, and lived a long life rooted in family, creativity, faith, and quiet dedication to those she loved. Margaret was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Judith Carter; daughter-in-law, Penelope Carter; her granddaughter, Karen Carter; and her siblings, Malcolm, Charles, John, Priscilla, and Mary. Margaret spent much of her childhood in Maine and Massachusetts. Her father crafted eyeglasses, a trade that led his family to live in Hampden and Bangor Maine, then relocating to Brookline and Cambridge Massachusetts. She devoted her life to her home and family, embracing her role as a housewife and mother with love and pride. She raised her four children in East Cambridge, Rockland, Weymouth, and Duxbury Massachusetts. A woman of many talents and passions, Margaret loved painting, sewing, knitting, fishing, gardening, and especially cooking. Her family will forever remember her wholesome meals, her ever-growing collection of cookbooks, and the love she poured into every dish she prepared. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, care, and connection. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Margaret was a devoted genealogist. She spent countless hours researching not only her own family's history, but also assisting others in uncovering theirs, a true labor of love. She was a member of the Alden Kindred of America and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a woman of faith, finding strength and spiritual connection through scripture. The family would like to acknowledge Samantha Gilligan, FNP and Laura Maguire, CMA from Seaport Community Health Center and the staff of Gentiva Hospice, especially Katrina Grindle, RN and Rich Bissell, LCSW, for their invaluable care and support.
