Obituary

Fairfield, ME – Margaret "Peg" Valvo, 80, passed away peacefully at her home on February 13, 2026. Peg was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her, and she will be remembered with deep love for her kindness, creativity, and devotion to family. Peg was predeceased by her parents, Merle Lyford Sr. and Jennie Lyford; and her siblings: Beatrice and her husband Reggie Knowles, Merle Lyford Jr., Roberta and her husband Don Thullin, David Lyford, Stanley Lyford, Wayne Lyford, and John Lyford. She is lovingly survived by her husband of 48 years, Bob; her children, Roxanne and her husband Eric Fox; Randy Brown, and Richard and his wife Carolyn Brown; as well as her many cherished stepchildren. Peg is also survived by her brother Ronald and his wife Lottie Lyford, her sister Joyce Carlson, and her sisters-in-law Connie, Nadine, Arletta, Cindy, and Lynn. She leaves behind grandchildren: Richard, Ryan, Natalie, and Heather; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Olivia, Spencer, Delilah, Wilder, Kadence, Tess, Tyler and one great-great grandchild Weston, along with many nieces and nephews who adored her. Peg grew up in the Milo area and was a graduate of Milo High School. She went on to work as a seamstress for several employers, a career well-suited to her patience, precision, and creativity. In 1978, Peg married Bob, beginning a loving partnership that spanned nearly five decades. She later worked for JCPenney for many years before retiring. Peg had a deep love for nature and found joy in flowers, birds, and animals of all kinds. An avid gardener, she took pride in growing vegetables that were canned, cooked, roasted, and transformed into comforting, home-cooked meals for her family. She also enjoyed drawing, especially working with pencil, finding peace and expression through her art. Peg's warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit will be profoundly missed, but her love will live on in the hearts of those she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ASPCA in Peg's name to continue her deep love for animals, donations can be made here: http://bit.ly/4aQz2Eu No formal services will be held at this time.
