Obituary

Maxine Lucienne Poirier 70, died Sunday January 19, 2025 after a short illness at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta with her family by her side. Maxine was born February 13, 1954 in Waterville, Maine to Lucien and Blanche" Berube" Maheu. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, camping, going to the casino and spending time with family and her puppy Penelope. She became Waterville's first female volunteer fire fighter in 1981. She was assigned to Engine 3, where she proved herself to be an asset to her company. This was something for which she was very proud. Maxine was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 34 years, Joseph "Don" Poirier. She is survived by her partner Alec Reynolds, her sisters Pauline Michaud (Leo), Yvonne Pottle (Fred), June Fletcher (Rick) and brother Lucien Maheu (Ann), her children Edwin Maheu (Lia), Donald Poirier, James French (Crystal), Darren French, Darlene French, also many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many special friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday June 13, 2025 at 10:00 am at Corpus Cristi Parish (aka Notre Dame Catholic Church) 112 Silver St, Waterville. Burial will follow at St Francis Catholic Cemetery; 78 Grove St Waterville. A celebration of life will follow at the V.F.W. Water Street Waterville.
