Obituary

Muriel Nadeau went home to be with the Lord on March 15,2026 at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home with her daughter Tammie by her side. She was born July 19,1940 to John and Bertha (Gordon) Withee. She was born in Canaan at the Slab City School House where she grew up. Muriel was the youngest of four children and graduated from Hartland Academy in 1959. She then met and married the father of her children, Byron Randolph Nadeau, on June 25, 1960. She moved to Brighton Plantation in 1963 and lived there until 1982. She had two children Tammie L. (Nadeau) Cowette and Randolph Gary Nadeau. She named him after her first boyfriend Gary. Muriel worked at Norrwock Shoe from 1960 until its closing in 1981, then she went to work at Dirigo Stitching until her retirement. Over the years she would tell many stories about her days at Dirigo and the friends she met there. In 1983, she divorced Byron and she met Edward Gibbs whom she lives with until his passing in 1998. Muriel's most precious gift was the birth of her granddaughter Jessica and great-grandson Joseph. She was also an adopted aunt to many nieces and nephews through the years. She prided herself on the fact that she taught many people how to parallel park to get their driver's licenses. She would drive her sister Nettie to different churches when Nettie started having trouble seeing after dark. After many visits to Daystar Chapel, she became a member and was baptized, something that she was extremely proud of. When anyone asked her what religion, she was, she would tell them Pentecostal and she went to Daystar Chapel. Whenever there was an event or a fundraiser going on at the church, she was the first one there and would volunteer to help anyone that was in need. Muriel had a great love for horses and everyone that met her would be aware of this. She also enjoyed playing cards with anyone that would play. Muriel had several friends whom she missed dearly. She was a person that would leave a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by everyone. Muriel suffered a stroke in 2022 that caused her to give her apartment and to move into Oak Grove facility in Waterville. She was there until February of 2026 when she finally got to move to Cedar Ridge. All the time that she was at Oak Grove all she would say is someday I am going to get to Cedar Ridge. She finally did but was not there long before she had the final stroke that took her life. Her family wishes to thank all those that provided special care for her during her time at each nursing home. A special thanks to Dana, Mike and Brennon at Oak Grove and Omar and Robin at Cedar Ridge along with all the other nurses. She is predeceased by her parents John and Bertha Withee; a special aunt Octavia Reynolds of Unity Maine; one brother Merle Withee of Skowhegan; two sisters Nettie Quirion of Skowhegan and Helene Trafton of Madison, Maine; and two nieces, Rebecca Dey of Clinton and Mary Withee of Skowhegan; and a son Randolph Gary Nadeau. She is survived by one daughter Tammie (Dennis) Cowette of Athens, Maine; one granddaughter Jessica (James) Bishop of Central Maine; and a great -grandson Joseph of Central Maine. She was also blessed with a bonus daughter Sherri (Robert) Arris whom she called favorite daughter. Also 2 favorite nieces Cathy (Bruce) Jones, Ruth & Rick Blaschke (Her favorite nephew). A Celebration of Life will be held March 28, 2026, at Daystar Chapel at 10:00am. Spring burial to be announced.
