Oakland: Nancy L. Curato 51, died Monday September 29, 2014 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on October 3, 1962 the daughter of Janusz and Elizabeth (Merenuk) Rekawek. Nancy graduated from Clarkson High School in Michigan, attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, and earned her Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Maine at Augusta. Nancy was employed through Eastern Maine Medical Center as a phlebotomist and a lab tech at Inland Hospital in Waterville and Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield. She also worked a short time at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta. Nancy was always interested in continuing her education and improving her work. She enjoyed outdoor activities including hiking, skiing and photography. She had a green thumb and loved spending time in her garden. On July 30, 1988 Nancy married John Curato, together they had two sons Nicholas and Christopher. Christopher died in 2006. Surviving are her parents of Michigan, her son Nicholas of Smithfield, a brother Stanley Rekawek of Colorado, sisters; Jenny Reibel and husband David of Michigan, Theresa Rekawek-Bell of Hungry, Elizabeth DeBuysser and husband Randall of Indiana, and Mary Thomson and husband Scott of Illinois, several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday October 3 at Notre Dame Church, Silver Street Waterville.
