Paul Pion, 94, born in East Brookfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 15. 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born into a large and close-knit family, Paul was the youngest of twelve children and was predeceased by his twin sister and all of his siblings. He was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean, with whom he shared many years of love and partnership.
Paul is survived by his devoted children: his son Gary Pion and his wife Lynn of Massachusetts; his daughter Cheryl Stalilonis-Francis and her husband Kevin of Maine; his daughter Mary Pion and Paul Lee of North Carolina; and his son Michael Pion and Patty Cropley of Maine. He also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom lovingly knew him as "Granddad" and "D-Dad", names that reflected their close and happy relationships.
A proud veteran, Paul served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. His strength, resilience, and sense of duty were qualities he carried with him throughout his life.
Paul was an avid outdoorsman who found great peace, beauty, and happiness in nature, especially while fishing. He also had a passion for golf, of which he passed down to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His appreciation for the outdoors extended to his love of Maine and his commitment to caring for the land.
He was always willing to lend a hand, known for stepping in to help with projects and repairs whenever needed. He enjoyed time with nieces and nephews at family gatherings. Paul lived his life with honesty, fairness, and unwavering loyalty. He had natural gifts of ingenuity and intuition and took pride in his skills of landscaping and cooking. He will be fondly remembered for his legendary apple and blueberry pies, which brought family together time and time again.
Though his laughter was not frequent, it was genuine and warm, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to hear it. His quiet kindness and steady presence shaped the lives of those around him, and his family will carry forward his compassion and values
in the days ahead.
Above all else, Paul's family was the center of his world. He will be remembered for his unwavering love, quiet strength, and the deep bonds he created with those around him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished so deeply. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 4, 2026, at Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery on Blue Star Highway in Augusta.
