Obituary

Richard "Rick" Dostie passed away recently at his home in Fairfield, Maine. He was seventy-six years old. He was born in Farmington, Maine on May 18, 1948, to parents Richard R. Dostie and Patricia McGraw Dostie. Rick attended Fairfield schools where he excelled in academics and music. He went on to attend Middlebury College, as well as Portland School of Law. He practiced law for a few years in Belfast, Maine, specializing in criminal law and child welfare. After leaving his law practice, Rick began his long musical career playing with several musical groups, including Al Corey's Orchestra. He also played the organ and directed choirs in many churches in the state, most recently as the organist at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Waterville. Rick directed the Penobscot Bay Singers in Belfast for many years. He taught music in the Winslow School Department and led a jazz trio at the former Graziano's Italian Restaurant in Lisbon, Maine. He was predeceased by his parents and grandparents and his special Nana, Gladys Ackley McGraw. He is survived by his uncle Stephen McGraw and his wife Diann Crabtree McGraw, their daughter, Erin McGraw Kliegle and husband Kriss, their daughters Gabrielle and Bridget. He also leaves behind many friends and cousins. There will be a funeral service on Saturday February 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of Waterville with a reception following in the fellowship hall. Spring burial will be at the Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield. Arrangements have been entrusted to Veilleux Redington Lawry Brothers funeral home in Waterville.
