Obituary

Bob passed away on Sunday, August 9 with Carol, his loving wife of 58 years, by his side. He was number seven of eight children by his parents Adelard and Julianna Huard. As a young man, he served his country in the Army which allowed him to travel to Europe. After his time in the service, he became a machinist and resettled in his hometown of Winslow, where he met Carol, married and started a family. We have many memories of Bob (Dad) and want to share some of our favorites.

  • He grew up a diehard Yankee fan. Like most boys of his generation, he admired the sluggers in pinstripes: Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle. But once he had his children, he realized he needed to shift his allegiance to the Red Sox: Yaz, Jim Rice, Fred Lynn.
  • He was light on his feet. A wonderful dancer, he took lessons as a young man and could cut up a rug as if he was on Dancing with the Stars.
  • Music made him move. He loved it all! Especially that song "with a good beat, you know the one".
  • He was a funny, funny guy. Loved a good joke, loved to make people laugh, and especially loved to laugh at himself.
  • A kind heart who cherished his family and friends. Enjoyed going to work each day, reading history, and loved all things about Maine – especially the weather.

In addition to his wife, Carol (Rancourt) Huard, Bob is survived by his children: son Eric; daughter Stacey, son-in-law Chris, and granddaughter Olivia. He also leaves his brother Roland and sister-in-law Gert; many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends. Bob was not one to make a fuss, a simple ceremony will be held at Veteran's Cementery in Augusta on xxx date at xxx time. The family would like to thank Monica and Melissa for their gentle care with Bob over the past year. We appreciate your kind words and prayers.
