Vassalboro – Robert “Bob” J. Theriault passed away peacefully at his home on August 20, 2026.
Bob was born on June 12, 1945, in Waterville, Maine, the son of Joseph R. Theriault and Lorette M. (Lizotte) Theriault. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1964 and shortly afterward began his military service, joining the United States Marine Corps in July 1964. He served until June 1968 and held the rank of Staff Sergeant in the inactive Marine Corps Reserve. During his time in the Marines, Bob proudly served 13 months in Vietnam.
Following his honorable military service, Bob continued his education. He attended the University of Maine before continuing his studies at LA College in Lewiston. He later transferred to Central Maine Technical College, where he earned an associate degree with high honors.
Bob had an artistic side and enjoyed creating portraits for friends and family throughout the years. He eventually worked for Scott Paper Company in Winslow, where he was employed for 30 years. It was while working in Portland that Bob met his wife, and together they raised their two children.
Bob was a devoted and immensely proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Colonel Jennifer Baggot, who is on active duty, and her husband, Colonel Kevin Baggot, retired. He is also survived by his son, Chad Theriault of Washington, and Chad’s wife, Seng; his granddaughter, Megan Theriault; and his grandson, Ethan Theriault; and his sister, Sandra Wadleigh. Bob took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and daughter-in-law and cherished his family deeply.
Bob was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Alton Wadleigh, on December 21, 1988, and his father, Joseph R. Theriault, on June 14, 1996.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist church in Winslow on Thursday, September 10th at 10 am. He will be interred at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at 1 pm.
Bob will be remembered by his family and friends for the pride he took in his loved ones, his service to his country, his artistic talents, and the many years he devoted to his work and family.
