Winslow: Robert S. York SR. 87, passed July 12, at his home in Virginia with family by his side. Robert lived most of his life in Winslow, Maine raising his four children.
He was born November 30 1936, in Winslow, Maine to Clifford York and Glendina (Taylor)
He attended Winslow Schools and graduated from Waterville High School. He enlisted in the US Navy after graduating from high school. He began his photography career in the Navy and even took pictures of President Eisenhower.
Upon returning from the service, he worked for the Sentinel until his retirement.
Robert enjoyed gardening , traveling, and carpentry. He also really enjoyed a a good cup of coffee and dessert. He was a big fan of the New England Patriots.
He was a big jokester and loved to make people laugh. But he was also known to be someone they could count on. He would tell his family, that his enjoyed his golden years because they were pretty special.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife of 61 years, Diana Marie York and siblings Russell , Charlie , Barbara , Beaulah and Charloette.
He is survived by his sons Joseph S. York and wife Zengling York; Daniel S. York and wife Rosario C. York; Luanna M. York and finace David Nevedomsky; Robert S. York Jr. and wife Michelle York; Grandchildren Joshua, Jesse , James, Chelsey, Sebastian, Sabrina, Jacob, and Amanda.
Burial will take place on July 20, 2024 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterville.
