Obituary

FAIRFIELD- Roland Binette, of Maine, passed away on July 15th, 2026, at the age of 92.

Born in 1934, Roland graduated from Lawrence High School in 1952. He pursued his passion for horology by attending the New England School of Watchmaking in Boston and earned certification from the Horological Institute of America in Washington, D.C. He also completed the U.S. Army Ordnance School of Watchmaking at Aberdeen, Maryland.

Roland proudly served his country as a Korean War veteran. After his military service, he volunteered with the Maine General pharmacy.

A master watchmaker by trade, Roland worked for Day's Jewelry for 30 years. In 1972, he joined Maine Central Railroad, where he served as a Railroad Watch Inspector, combining his precision craftsmanship with his dedication to the railroad industry.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfrid and Eva Binette, and his sister, Constance Bouchard.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Patricia L. Binette; his sons, Steven Binette (Michelle), Andrew Binette, and Colleen Binette; his brother, Leo Binette; his grandson, Noah (Morgan); and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Roland will be remembered for his exceptional skill as a watchmaker, his service to his country, his strong work ethic, and his devotion to his family. His steady hands, generous spirit, and quiet dedication left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Funeral Mass will be held at Notre Dame du Perpetual Secours Catholic Church, at 116 Silver Street in Waterville, Maine. Friday, July 31st at 10am, with a luncheon following the services.
