Oakland- Sheila (Fowler) Davis, 86, passed peacefully on September 27, 2026. She was surrounded by treasured friends and family in her last days, as she was throughout her life.
Sheila was born on July 5, 1940, in Benton Station to Hazen and Margaret Fowler. Sheila was a graduate of Lawrence High School and married William “Bill” Davis in June of 1959. Sheila was a homemaker- a skill she also used to prepare the homes Bill constructed for sale.
Sheila was a lifelong active member of her church community and was affectionately known as “The Church Lady” amongst family. Sheila attended the Baptist church early on and was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Fairfield. Sheila was involved in bible study, crochet and knitting circles, Sunday School and hosting events for the congregation.
Sheila enjoyed catching up with loved ones over lunch and a movie, or a game of cards. She was the center of family life, hosting large gatherings, preparing holiday meals and favorites like her corn chowder, chocolate cream and pumpkin pies. Sheila displayed a collection of baskets, Boyd’s Bears and porcelain dolls in her home to the delight of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sheila was a willing adventure companion, traveling throughout the state, as well as trips to Denmark and Louisiana.
Sheila is predeceased by her parents and her sister Jeannine Waugh. She is survived by her husband Bill Davis as well as her children, William and wife Catherine, Scott, Kevin and wife Lisa, Christopher and wife Lana, and Angela and husband Michael, and by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at The United Methodist Church, 37 Skowhegan Road, Fairfield, Maine on Saturday, November 14,2026 at 12:30pm. Followed by a memorial service
from 1-3pm.
