Obituary

Shirley Mae Poulin (Wells) 75 resident of Gray Birch long-term care in Augusta, Maine met Jesus on Friday December 5th 2025. Shirley was born to Marie Violette Wells (Cayouette) and James William Wells Sr. on February 16th, 1950, in Waterville, Maine. She was married to her former spouse with whom she gave birth to four children. She got her G.E.D and worked several jobs over the years while caring for her children. Her favorite workplace was as an activity coordinator at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home. She was a very dedicated mother to her four children. Her children always came first. It was always so important to her that her children stay close to one another. Shirley was a very loving, caring, giving woman always thinking of others before herself. If someone needed a coat, she'd give it to them off her back. If someone complimented her on her earrings she'd offer them to the person. She lived on her own for as long as she possibly could after suffering a head injury from being struck by a car. She moved into Gray Birch facility where she received great care and all of the socialism she loved, once she couldn't safely live on her own. She, recently within the last couple of years, had to go to long-term care due to Parkinson's. She battled Parkinson's and dementia like the strong, stubborn, persistent woman she has been her whole life, all with a great smile and jokester personality each and every day! She was even voted Best Comedian at Gray Birch on May 15th, 2025. Throughout Shirley's life she had an unwavering faith in God, many times speaking of Jesus and setting time aside each day for prayer 7-8 am and 7-8 pm. Shirley was predeceased and joins her father, James William Wells Sr., mother, Marie Violette Wells (Cayouette), brother James Wells Jr. and grandson Michael Poulin in heaven. Shirley is survived by her children, Tammy M. Mushero and her husband Paul K. Mushero, Joseph R. Poulin and his wife Moriah Poulin, Ricky J. Poulin and his wife Felicia Poulin, Jason P. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
