It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Sophia Hayes, who left us far too soon on Friday, September 20th, 2024, at the young age of 18, following a motorcycle accident.
Sophia was born on February 15th, 2006, in Waterville, Maine, and recently graduated from high school in June 2024. She was excitedly preparing to attend college this fall, full of hope for the future. During her junior year, she attended Automotive classes at MMTC and graduated early, showcasing her dedication and passion for learning. Sophia worked as a barista at Aroma Joe's, where she shared her infectious smile and energy with customers and colleagues alike.
An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Sophia had recently purchased her first sport bike, which she loved riding alongside her newfound friends from an online riding community. She was a bright, spirited young woman, known for her goofiness and warmth, who easily connected with others who shared her passion for riding. Though shy at first, her vibrant personality shone through as she embraced her love for motorcycles and made lasting friendships.
Sophia was a deeply intelligent, driven individual who held herself to high standards in all she did. Whether it was excelling in school, planning for her future, or simply enjoying her favorite energy drinks like Monster and Red Bull, she lived life fully, chasing after her dreams with enthusiasm and courage.
Sophia is survived by her loving mother, Laurie Blake; her father, Thomas Hayes; her sisters, Marie Mareiro and Tanya Rollins; her brothers, Eddie Blake, David Blake, Charlie Paradise, Isreale Rodriguez, and Tommy Hayes. She will also be sadly missed by her childhood friends, Helena Ramon, Haylee Clark, Chloe Hartley, Arika Robbins and many more friends. Her absence leaves a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
A wake will be held on Sunday, September 29th, 2024, from 2 pm-6pm at Veilleux-Redington and Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville, Maine. Flowers and condolences may be offered at the Funeral Home. Sophia will be remembered as the adventurous, kind, and bright young woman who touched the lives of those around her.
