CLINTON – Theresa Irene (Rowe) Monk, 93, passed away Sunday morning, February 25th at Northern Light Continuing Care Lakewood in Waterville where she had resided for the past five years. She was born in Clinton on December 30th, 1930, to Albert and Ruby (Ranlett) Rowe. She spent most of her childhood growing up on the family farm on Route 100 in Benton and was a 1949 graduate of Lawrence High School. Theresa married Clifton Monk on February 3, 1956 in Clinton. Theresa and Clifton were foster parents for over 30 years and raised over 30 children. She was a long-time member of the Brown Memorial United Methodist Church where she volunteered at the turkey pie suppers helping as one of the pie ladies and was a member of the craft group and the women's group. She was also a 75+ year member of the Grange having served in most offices. She loved to go camping with her family and camped up until she was 80. She was an avid crafter making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, Barbie doll clothes, quilts, and baskets. She was well known for her pies, banana bread, and filled cookies. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifton Monk, who died in 1996. She was predeceased by her brother, Albert "Sonny" Rowe and sisters, Barbara Grant and Phyllis Hunter. She is survived by her children Trudy Monk Hanson (Don) of Winthrop, Gary Monk of New Hampshire, Cindy Wood Davis (Millard) of Clinton, and Don Cox (Natalie) of Florida; grandchildren, Jessica, Tabatha, Tim, Nicole, Jason, Tanya, Casey, Bobbie Jo, Angel, and Sonya; great grandchildren, Zachary, Kayden, Kylie, Bryten, Nate, Eddie, Owen, Fiona, Savanah, Ryleigh, Blake, Leira, Baeligh, Logan, Slade, Bryse, Aiden, Dusty, Johnny, Isaac, and Layla. She is also survived by her sister, Gladys Lee. A celebration of her life will take place, Saturday, March 2nd at 2 pm at Brown Memorial United Methodist Church, 36 Church Street, Clinton, with refreshments to follow in the fellowship hall. Burial will take place later in the spring in Greenlawn Rest Cemetery, Clinton.
