November 14, 2013 Waterville: Viola Mabel Knowles 87, died Tuesday November 12, 2013 at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville. She was born in Lewiston on October 28, 1926 the daughter of Charles and Rosella (Jerald) Crowell. Viola worked many years at the Cascade Woolen Mill. She also was employed by Nelson Ward in Winslow and Everett Mclean on Hussey Hill in Oakland. Viola attended the Ten Lots Chapel and she and her husband played music at several nursing homes in the area. She was devoted to her family, and loved to cook for friends and neighbors. She would do anything for anyone to help people. Besides her parents, Viola was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Edward C. Knowles, twins, David and Dana Knowles, and 3 brothers Eddie, Harold, and Arthur Crowell, grandson Scott (Bucky) Loisel . Surviving are 2 daughters, Donna Haines-Carrier and husband Darcy of Oakland, and Rose Ann Loisel and partner Junior of Clinton, grandchildren, Clifford Haines III and wife Claire of Phoenix, Az., Ricky Loisel and long time partner Kari Percy of Fairfield Center, and Pooh (Viola) Loisel and boyfriend Basil Manson of Waterville, great grandchildren Kyle, Carter, and Ella , Brittany, Nicole, Dillan, Ricky, Dustin, Tyler, and Tammicka, also Scott Bickford who was like a son to Viola, her best friends, Greta Boutin, Mary Gower, and Helen Murphy, several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her long time companion cat, Sassy A special thank you to niece Carolyn and Wayne Boudreau who helped care for Viola, and all of her husbands family, ,Arthur and Violet Gooldrup, Gerald Knowles and Donald and Theo Knowles, and to the wonderful staff at Lakewwod, who cared for her. They were super great, also Dr. Preston and his nurse Debbie and Dr. Kamra. To the workers at hospice, and our most wonderful Tasha, we love you all. There will be no public visiting hours, a memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday November 19 at the Chapel of the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Civic Center Drive Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or the Waterville Area Humane Society 100 Webb Rd Waterville, ME.
