Waterville-Violet Gifford, 88, went to join her beloved husband, James N. Gifford Jr., August 8, 2013. She was a resident of Lakewood Manor for the last 2 ½ years.

She was born in Albion, ME on December 22, 1924.

Violet left behind a daughter Cynthia Elias and son-in-law Richard Elias; a daughter Thamera Federico; a son Kenneth Drown Sr. and daughter-in-law Sharon Jean Drown; a daughter Deborah Ingalls and son-in-law Chester Ingalls. She also had several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had 3 special grandchildren, Eric Drown, Kenneth Drown Jr., and Sherrie Burgess and a very dear great granddaughter Jalynn Drown who she will be sadly missed by.

Violet worked at Wyandotte Woolen Mill for 25 years and also at Carlton Mill & Diamond in Oakland. In 1970, she moved to Florida with her husband. She moved back to Maine in 2005 and lived with her son and his wife until her passing to a better place. She was a very lovable person, always helping whoever needed it.

She attended Winslow High School, and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. She was a very active lady. Violet kept a garden, a garden of her heart. We hope she feels the love that some of her children had for her.

The family wants to thank the staff at Lakewood for the care they gave Violet, especially Natasha and Chrystal who made all the difference for Violet.

At her request there will be no visitation; a private burial will take place at a later date.
