Waterville: Walter S. Witham 75, died peacefully Sunday June 8, 2014 at the Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Waterville on June 4, 1939 the son of Cony and Florence (Moran) Witham. Walter attended Oakland schools and except for a short time in southern Maine, lived in the Oakland-Waterville area. Walter worked most of his life in the construction business. He enjoyed golf, and when he was younger, was a caddy at the Waterville Country Club. His activities included bowling, hunting, and fishing. Recently, he became involved in singing at several local nursing homes. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Wallace Witham, and 2 sisters, Helen Witham, and Rachel Parlin. Surviving are a son Eric S. Witham and wife Tammy of Skowhegan, a daughter Beckie Witham-Genthner and husband Dana of Skowhegan, 2 sisters Bertha Wilson of Westbrook, and Delores McLaughlin, grandchildren, Brian Perry of Skowhegan, Kristen Allen and husband Josh of Merrimack, NH., Kati Dow and husband Curtis of Skowhegan, and MJ Washburn of Skowhegan, great grandchildren, Logan Allen of Merrimack, NH., and Kamdyn Dow of Skowhegan. His special friend Bev Bracy of Waterville, many nieces, nephews, and other special friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Abby Maynard NP from Four Seasons Family Medicine, the Alfond Cancer Center, all the staff at Cedar Ridge Center including special nurses, Linda, Tammy, Angel, Kati, Dawn, Kendall, and Laura Connors, PA., also to Jodi, for a lifetime of care. A graveside service will be held noon on Saturday June 14 at the Lewis Cemetery, Cottle Road Oakland with the Rev. Stephen Bracy officiating, followed by a celebration of his life at the Seton Village Community Center 1 Carver Street Waterville. Arrangements are by Wheeler Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Oakland.
