Albion, ME- Ward Richard Burkhart, 59, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 6, 2022. He was born in Danbury, CT on February 14, 1963, the son of William and Jane (Brady) Burkhart. He attended local schools, schools in Skowhegan, ME and some college classes. Upon graduation he was a carpenter in MA, worked as a blacksmith on the coast in Maine, as well as a few other jobs until he started his own commercial framing and drywall business in Central Maine.
He reconnected with the love of his life Tammy, and together they raised the last two of her five children, one of which will always live at home. Ward never had his own children, which made him a great Dad that made a house a home for all of them. He loved spending time with family and friends and never missed a family event or a race to watch his son compete. He loved being a father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ward was exceptionally helpful to the children's math homework. Ward was known as Skeet to most people and was liked by all he met. He was a hard worker and he took pride in what he did. Ward worked with his son James and always provided support with any help he could give. He loved to see others succeed. If anyone had a question, they'd call on Skeet. He almost always had the answer. He was a smart man. He was a rock collector and was very knowledgeable with plants, birds and music. As a young man, He liked dirt bike riding, hiking and camping. He liked music, going on drives, visiting friends and family, entertaining Melissa, dining out, gardening, swimming, sunny days and warm weather.
Ward is predeceased by his parents Jane and William Burkhart; his stepfather David Farrel; his sister Sharon Burkhart.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, his son James Doucette and wife Melissa; daughters Nicole Bedard and husband Chris; Rachel Doucette; Melissa Meng (Goober); Tiffany Eldridge and husband Douglas; his brother Wayne Burkhart and partner Jenny; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren; special lifelong friend Everett Rickards.
Cremation ashes will be spread at a later date tbd.
